During the process, an entrance fee deposit guarantees your apartment when the community opens in 2029. If construction finishes earlier, you’ll gain access sooner; if delays occur, we’ll assist with interim housing and provide regular updates. By replacing funds that would otherwise need to be borrowed from capital markets, the deposit reduces debt costs and supports the development of enhanced amenities that enrich the resident experience. While interest is not collected on the deposit, it remains fully refundable upon leaving the community.
Monthly rent for independent living includes your living space, breakfast or lunch, all utilities, public WiFi, and access to the full range of community amenities.

Mullen Residences at the Highlands honors a legacy that began over a century ago when philanthropists J.K. and Catherine Mullen envisioned a place of dignity and care for older adults in North Denver. This vision was brought to life by a group of Catholic women known as the Little Sisters of the Poor. Over the years, the original Mullen Home became a cherished cornerstone of the community, evolving to meet the needs of Denver’s older adults while preserving its homelike atmosphere rooted in compassionate care and human dignity.
Today, the Archdiocese of Denver breathes new life into the historic West Highlands campus with the opening of Mullen Residences at the Highlands. Operated by Colorado-based Christian Living Communities (CLC), Mullen Residences honors the rich history of the Mullen Home while reflecting CLC’s more than half-century of creating communities where aging is honored and celebrated, and where older adults are empowered to begin a new era of life, lived with purpose.
At Mullen Residences, older adults can thrive in an environment of excellence, embracing each day with purpose, fulfillment, and the freedom to live life abundantly. Here, the residents are valued. They are invited to connect, grow, and contribute, knowing they are part of a place where they truly belong.
