All About Mullen Residences at the Highlands
In Denver’s charming Highlands, the historic Mullen Home site is beginning a new chapter. For more than a century, it was home to the Little Sisters of the Poor and their mission of caring for older adults.
Soon, it will become Mullen Residences at the Highlands—a welcoming senior living community. Reserving Independent Living today with Assisted Living and Memory Support upon opening. A place that celebrates its legacy while looking ahead to the future.
Our Mission
At Mullen Residences at the Highlands, our mission is to create a vibrant community inspired by faith and built upon a legacy of compassionate care where each day offers opportunities for personal growth, meaningful connections, and a true sense of belonging.
Who We Are
Honoring Legacy, Embracing Innovation

Honoring Legacy, Embracing Innovation
The Archdiocese of Denver has partnered with Christian Living Communities (CLC) to reimagine this beloved 3629 W. 29th Avenue location. The vision is ambitious yet respectful, creating a community that honors and celebrates aging while preserving the site’s rich history.
Construction is slated to start Spring of 2027. Interest in Mullen Residences is already strong, with future residents reserving their place. Here, aging is embraced as an opportunity to continue growth, connection, and contribution.
At the heart of this redevelopment is a deep commitment to preserving the iconic Old Main building. With its original chapel and distinctive architectural features, Old Main will remain a centerpiece of Mullen Residences, blending history and heritage with a vibrant vision for the future.
The Non-Profit Difference

The Non-Profit Difference
As a non-profit organization, Mullen Residences at the Highlands is committed to providing the care, support, and spaces for seniors to live life on their own terms.
Rather than being accountable to shareholders, we are accountable to an all-volunteer board of directors. Mullen Residences at the Highlands prioritizes resident and team members well-being above all else, and is not required to maximize profits in the interest of shareholders as for-profit companies are.
Mullen Residences at the Highlands profits will be managed for the future growth of our organization to ensure we are able to sustain and grow our collective mission.
Our Culture of Citizenship
Our Culture of Citizenship
The CLC-Citizenship Model, created by our partner organization, Christian Living Communities/Cappella Living Solutions, is an age-positive, empowerment approach rooted in the belief that each individual, at every age and level of abilities, has gifts, passions, talents, and experience that can make the community stronger and better. When people view themselves as active citizens in their communities, there is influence, meaning, autonomy, belonging and an overall sense of well-being.
At the heart of Mullen Residences at the Highlands are the residents, more than just community members—they are active participants who support one another and contribute to the vibrant spirit of daily life. Through their involvement in activities and meaningful connections, they help create a rich and caring community.
We believe this approach will revolutionize aging services, moving beyond traditional cultures that focus on a declinist view of aging to purpose-filled cultures of shared responsibility, to citizenship.
